It has been a couple of months since director AL Vijay’s Thalaivi, a biopic on late Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu J Jayalalithaa, was announced. The pre-production work on Thalaivi has been going on for over a year now.
According to latest reports, the shoot of Thalaivi will begin sometime in the first week of October this year. The shooting of Thalaivi will kickstart in Mysuru and then continue in Chennai. In an interview with Cinema Express, one of the producers, Shaailesh R Singh, opened up about the film’s progress.
He told the daily, “The film has entered pre-production. Most of the technicians are on board. Kangana has gone back to Manali to begin her prep. She’s learning everything from Tamil diction to classical dance. We are set to roll from the first week of October.”
The Tamil-Hindi bilingual will have a story written by Baahubali writer KV Vijayendra Prasad and Rahul Arora. It is said that the makers have roped in Tamil and Hindi actors to be part of Jayalalithaa’s biopic.
In an earlier interview, director AL Vijay and producer Vishnu Vardhan Induri said that Kangana Ranaut is the perfect choice to play J Jayalalithaa in the film. In an interview to a daily, Vijay said, “This is a pan-Indian film, and Kangana is apt for the role. She is one of the biggest stars in India today and I think it is right that a top star plays the role of an important politician. We consider this a pan-Indian film, not a regional one. There was a lot of discussions before the decision was made to cast Kangana; we met several people as well.”
