Aditya Roy Kapur and Disha Patani’s Malang is steady at the box office.
Directed by Mohit Suri, the film is a revenge drama and also stars Anil Kapoor and Kunal Kemmu in pivotal roles.
The film hit screens on February 7 and earned Rs 6.71 crore on Day 1. Malang minted a total of Rs 25.36 crore in the first weekend of its release. The coming days saw a drop in its collection as it could manage to earn just Rs 4.04 crore and 3.8 crore on its first Monday and Tuesday, respectively. Till Sunday, the film had earned Rs 47.67 crore.
Malang is aiming at Rs 50-crore mark in the coming days. It is expected to earn Rs 3 crore on Monday.
The drop in box office collection for Malang can be attributed to the release of Imtiaz Ali’s Love Aaj Kal. Starring Kartik Aaryan and Sara Ali Khan, the film released on Valentine’s Day. However, the Imtiaz Ali film also disappointed cine-goers.
Malang is among the highest grossing films in Aditya Roy Kapur’s career. Before Malang, Aditya worked with Mohit Suri in 2013 film Aashiqui 2, which established the actor in the industry.
